At only 22, Loïs Boisson shocked his world by reaching the last square of Roland-Garros when she was still largely unknown to the general public a decade earlier.
And despite the media that accompanies this kind of exploits, French is still a riddle for most observers... Is Loïs a temporary miracle or a future star?

Difficult beginnings
Abnegation, resilience and courage... Words that are sometimes used wrongly or through, especially in the world of professional sport. Yet for Loïs Boisson, the lexical field of resistance seems quite appropriate.
« Three years ago, his parents asked me if I was interested in accompanying him [...] The number one goal was to play painless » says Sébastien Durand, the physical preparer of French. In fact, the player regularly suffered injuries to the right shoulder, which prevented her from playing between October 2021 and March 2022. Since then, the word « resilience » is tattooed in the hollow of his right arm.
2024: the first full year
In 2024, a year before this Roland-Garros tournament, which makes her a national heroine, she is already on the beaten ground with 3 ITF tournaments won in a row:
- Cyprus
- Terrassa
- Bellinzone
That's 18 consecutive wins before finally tilting in the semifinal in Chiasso, defeated by 108nd Anna Bondar, who she had beaten in the previous tournament.
Then came the May Me and the first « Large » professional title: the WTA 125 de Saint-Malo. In wild card, she beats Varvara Gracheva (No. 4), Katie Volynets (No. 7) and her compatriots Alizé Cornet and Chloé Paquet. This success and the famous series on earth propels Loïs Boisson to the 150nd world ranking. She had started the year at 312nd Place.
A new forced brake stroke
So while she is enjoying a clearly ascending dynamic, a new injury occurs during the Paris Racing WTA 125 tournament. It's not the shoulder but this time a rupture of the left knee cross ligament. A new coup of fate that put an end to his best season, which should have been crowned by a participation in Roland-Garros...
She finally returned to the ITF tournament in Manchester in February 2025. A return to Terrassa allowed him to win a second place, and a semifinal on the Bellinzone side.
She did not manage to defend her title at Saint-Malo and even bowed down against Montpelliera Léolia Jeanjean. Obviously, the return season will be difficult, even if it won Saint-Gaudens. But Roland Garros will change everything.
Loïs star de Roland
Once again invited by wild card, the Dijon had visibly decided to remind the circuit that the beaten earth is its garden. Loïs Boisson recorded his first victory in 3 sets against Élise Mertens (22nd World Trade Organization). In the second round, she quietly rids Kalinina before facing the Lyons Elsa Jacquenot.
She beats her compatriot with a painful knee to offer a duel to Jessica Pegula. Suffice it to say that no one gives expensive of Loïs Boisson's skin visibly wounded in the face of the world n°3... And yet.
The most daring bet, the best bookmaker wouldn't have bet on Lois Boisson. Pegula starts by taking the first set 6-3. Authoritarian on his service and his right shot, the American is heading for a serious victory against the unknown French. Error.
The French girl rips off to stay within range in the second set and ends up breaker at 5-4. White play on his service to return to a set everywhere and the French audience already exults. But now Boisson is putting it back in quarters, a first for a French woman since 2017.
The tricolored audience is already in love, but Loïs is recidivating by eliminating Andreeva, world number 6 in just two sets! We hadn't seen French at this stage since 2011 and Mario Bartoli! In addition, she has been Roland-Garros's least ranked semifinalist for over 40 years!
Eliminated in half by Coco Gauff, the American still held greeted his surprise opponent: « I really felt like running everywhere [...] I couldn't get my usual tennis out, she was just too strong! ».
When he exited Roland-Garros Loïs Boisson, he made a jump of nearly 300 places in the WTA classification! From 361nd to 65nd Hey! She also became the #1 French, and not only in the heart of her fans.
After the rain, the good weather. And after the exploit...
The pressure! As the participations for Wimbledon were decided before the start Roland-Garros, Loïs Boisson had to compete for the qualifications, but failed in the first round. The grass is not (yet?) its surface. Whatever, after a very promising 2024 season but stopped net, this Roland-Garros campaign re-launched, and higher than ever.
From now on, it remains to transform the test but whatever happens, Lois Boisson has already managed to unite, impress and surprise. Exactly what French tennis needed!
